The company

A startup out of Abuja, building what was quietly ignored.

Primers Group began as Primers Corporation, founded by Jothan Jerry Kato with a council of Computer Science students and graduates at Veritas University, Abuja. The company was born in that department. It is owned and run independently by Primers.

We are a portfolio, not a single product. Every venture started the same way. We saw something broken in how Nigerians stay safe, get care, move money or reach one another, and we built the infrastructure ourselves.

Our flagship, SecureLink, began on campus as CampusGuard. It is now registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as Securelink Defence, with a clear path from campus pilots to municipal and government deployment across Sub-Saharan Africa.

SecureSafety and trust built into every system.
ConnectPeople, institutions and intelligence, linked.
InnovateOriginal products, built here, for here.

Technology should exist to serve people, not the other way around.Jothan Jerry Kato · Founder

Offline first
Our users live with patchy networks and basic phones. FlowDrop, Presona and Velaji keep working without a connection, and Velaji reaches feature phones over USSD.
Institution grade
We build for universities, health centres, banks and responders, where an outage or a leak has real consequences.
Misuse proof
Our systems are designed so that even we cannot abuse them. Veltis One never holds student money. SweepDesk logs every naira it moves.
Made here
Local payment rails, local realities and local talent, built by people who live with the problems we solve.
How we build

Production grade from the first commit.

Every Primers product is held to one engineering standard. We would rather ship later than ship something a hospital, a bank or a person in danger cannot rely on.

Security and privacy

Trust by design

Secrets stay in managed vaults and data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Every product ships with its own privacy policy.

  • Signed payment webhooks and atomic wallet updates
  • Row-level access rules on every table
  • Defences against injection, XSS, CSRF and SSRF
  • Built for the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023
Resilience

Built to keep serving

Something always fails somewhere. Our systems are designed to keep working when it does.

  • Timeouts, backoff and idempotent payments
  • Queues and dead letter handling for alerts
  • Backups, failover and rehearsed recovery
  • Offline modes where networks cannot be trusted
Delivery

Safe, reversible releases

Changes reach people gradually and can be rolled back in minutes.

  • CI pipelines and automated deployment
  • Feature flags, canary and rolling releases
  • Health checks, tracing, metrics and alerts
  • Service level objectives and written postmortems
How we show up

Innovate.Connect.Lead.

The words on our team uniform are the standard we hold each other to. Every Primers team member carries them into classrooms, clinics, banks and boardrooms across Nigeria.

The Primers team polo, white with navy panels, the Primers logo on the chest and Innovate. Connect. Lead. on the back
